A Letter from the Founder
Although legally established in 2021, B&Z Exoticz’ story began much earlier. As a young boy, I adored Steve Irwin, Steve Corwin, and any other nature show or book that featured reptiles. Their fearless, gentle, and curious approach inspired me deeply, even though it caused my mother to have a panic attack every time I walked into the house with a new lizard I had chased down. Growing up caused the lizard chasing to stop and it was a while before I felt that passion calling again.
After pursuing careers unrelated to my Biology degree from Arizona State University, I had decided to make a career switch and while in between opportunities, I found myself spending some of my extra time on YouTube. It was there that I found Brian Barczyk, Miguel Garcia, Justin Kobylka, Will Moroz, and many others advocating for reptiles with the same passion as my previous idols. Combining this with the genetic knowledge I had acquired as a student, my curiosity had taken hold culminating in the purchase of my first pet ball python in 2020.
From the moment I brought that snake home, I was hooked. Not only did I form a special bond with my pet, but I also became fascinated by the incredible genetic variations available in the reptile market. I couldn't resist the allure of the exquisite patterns and colors that could be created through breeding. It wasn't long before I started sharing my passion with my friends, and one friend, in particular, showed a keen interest.
When I first offered Zane the opportunity to handle a ball python, he was terrified. However, being best friends with me since high school, he was quick to overcome the fear holding him back in the doorway and eventually his intrigue was peaked. Watching him overcome his initial fear, and in doing so, igniting a new passion within him, was incredibly fulfilling to me. It was then that I decided I would become an advocate for these animals for the rest of my life. Together, Zane and I made a decision to start breeding ball pythons with a dual purpose: to produce innovative genetic combinations and to provide the highest quality care for our reptilian companions.
We have been steadily expanding our collection through our own breeding efforts and by importing genetics from leaders in the industry. Our ultimate goal is to continually push the boundaries and explore genetic combinations that have yet to be seen in the market. With each new clutch of eggs, we embark on a thrilling journey of discovery and strive to contribute to the world of reptile genetics in our own unique way.
Through our Animals-First approach, we aim to take care of our animals first, our customers second, and if those are met, we believe we will accomplish our goal and reach new heights in the ball python community.

Strict Selection at the Source:
We carefully select our animals and who we purchase from, ensuring they share our animal-first philosophy and have a reputable background in caring for and breeding ball pythons. We ensure that their breeding practices prioritize the health and welfare of the animals.
High Standards of Care:
We provide our animals with top-tier living conditions. This includes spacious and clean habitats, proper heating and lighting, and regular health check-ups to ensure they're thriving.
Nutritious Feeding Regime:
We feed our reptiles a diet of well-fed and cared for feeders to promote their health and well-being. We also monitor their feeding habits to quickly identify any potential health concerns.
Professional Health Checkups:
With any sign of illness, our animals undergo professional veterinarian check-ups to ensure any illness is treated and prevented from spreading.
Proper Handling and Socialization:
We practice appropriate handling and socialization techniques to ensure minimal stress to our animals. While not all ball pythons appreciate interaction, we ensure we are giving those that do, their handling time. Regular gentle handling also helps to foster a calm demeanor in our animals, making them better suited to life as pets.
Careful Breeding Practices:
We practice responsible breeding, avoiding overbreeding, and taking care not to propagate any harmful genetic conditions. Our breeding programs focus on improving the species' health and longevity.
